Sozopol is one of the oldest towns on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast line located 31 km south of Bourgas. It's a beautiful town set on a small rocky peninsula at the far end of the Bourgas Bay. The town is characterised by limestone houses, windmills, narrow streets and cobbled pavements. The picturesque sea-facing streets are lined with small restaurants and cafes, from where you can watch local fishermen unload their catch of the day and sell to the local restaurants.
Sozopol is an upmarket beach resort regarded as the St Tropez of Eastern Europe. It’s laid back atmosphere is complimented by the delightful sandy beaches. It is particularly busy in July and August but for the rest of the year enjoys the charm and feel of a sleepy fishing village and attracts a lot of artists and writers.
